John Furman

Pastor to Senior Adults

[email protected]
John is another one of our proud Clemson Tigers on staff, but his academic resume also includes Montreat College, an M.A. from St. Louis University, an M.Div from Reformed Theological Seminary (Jackson, Mississippi), and a D.Min from Reformed Theological Seminary (Charlotte, North Carolina).

When he is not busy being a student, John trades roles for that of pastor and teacher. He taught for ten years at Chaminade College Prep at Montreat College as well as Belhaven University and served as a pastor in Asheville, North Carolina, and Roanoke. John has lived in Roanoke for the last 26 years, where he has pastored a P.C.A. church, worked for Gentle Shepherd Hospice, taught classes, and currently leads our MASTERS Ministry for the over-55 crowd.

John is originally from Greenville, South Carolina, but now feels completely at home in Virginia. He proudly identifies himself as “Martha’s husband,” a position he has occupied for the last 35 years. John and Martha have two married daughters and enjoy playing Twister (the Reformed edition).
