Whitney Gibson

Student Ministry Associate Director

Whitney grew up on the river of Southeastern Ohio, but has always considered herself a mountaineer (she can see West Virginia from her house). She is the youngest of 3 by a long shot, her two older brothers being 10 and 13 years older than her. Growing up with two older brothers, she was a tomboy, and even played on an all-boys soccer team. Combining her love of exercise and science, she studied Exercise Physiology at West Virginia University. While at school, she was involved with CRU where she saw the Christian life lived out for the first time; along with discipleship, this was transformational for her walk with the Lord. During her junior and senior year, she led as Vice President for CRU, mentored girls, led bible studies, and went on several summer mission trips.

After graduation in 2016, she came to Roanoke to be a part of the Blue Ridge Fellows program (plug: you should do it) where she had the opportunity to serve in student ministries. She fell in love with Roanoke and the people and decided to stay! Whitney joined the CHS team in June 2018.

When she is not hanging out with students, you can find her at yard sales, making something crafty, looking at houses on Zillow, kayaking, hiking, or dancing. She also aspires to be a bee-keeper, have an old Chevy truck, and fix up her dad's vintage camper.
