“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 1:3-6

Dear Church Family,

Thirteen years ago, +Quigg recruited me as a new member of the church to serve as his Executive Assistant. That invitation has led to many adventures, much laughter, and a dear friendship. Six months later +Quigg expanded my duties to include women’s ministry, an opportunity that has been life-giving and has brought me so much joy. I LOVE equipping and empowering women in ministry, and you have risen to the challenge time and again. It has been such a delight to watch our women thrive and the ministry expand so significantly over the years. I owe a special debt of gratitude to the current and former members of our CHS Women’s Council, as well as the MANY women who have stepped up to lead women’s bible studies –you have been the “front line” of women’s ministry, and the vibrant discipleship that exists wouldn’t have happened without your sacrificial service.

My family landscape has also changed dramatically over those years. When I first joined the staff, Hal and I had a middle schooler, a high schooler, and two recent college grads. Now we await the birth of our ninth grandchild! We’ve also seen the decline of my parents’ health, whose present and future needs require more time and attention than I can currently provide. After MUCH prayer, I have decided to retire at the end of October. I always remind women I mentor that their family is their first mission field, and it is time for me to heed that call. I look forward to more time to invest in all four generations of my now very large and multi-tiered family.

+Quigg graciously afforded me the opportunity to take part in the selection of my successor, and I am so pleased that Erin Love will follow me in leadership. She has been well- equipped through many leadership experiences, has walked through real adversity with great faith and character and enjoys a strong relationship with many of you. She will lead with excellence and serve out of the overflow of a deep relationship with the Lord.

I will leave this post with a heart full of memories – so many of you have allowed me to speak into your lives, which has been such an incredible privilege. As I share that thought, a kaleidoscope of your faces is before me: women who contributed behind the scenes, women who bravely shared their stories, women I laid hands on in prayer. How I love the sweet community we have built together! I will still be a part of the body of course and involved in more limited volunteer service. I will look forward to seeing you!

With much love and a grateful heart,
Kim

From +Quigg:

THANK YOU KIM for a job well done. Actually, I should say thank you for ministry well done because you never saw your work as a “job” but as a ministry of Jesus Christ. You are hands down one of the best disciplers and equippers I have ever met. I have trusted you to enter into the hard places in the lives of our women and time and time again the Lord used you to bring healing, encourage, grow and challenge our women!! As they say in the Navy, BRAVO ZULU!

PS – I still hope Army gets whooped by Navy!

We are thrilled to announce that Erin Love will be our next leader of Women’s Ministry and handle the bishop’s correspondence and provide other administrative help to me!

Kim and I are in joyful agreement that the Holy Spirit has picked Erin to lead the discipling of women and Women’s Ministry. Erin, as many of you know, is uniquely gifted, called and has the character and love to take the baton and lead! Kim Worrell and Young Life have discipled Erin well and released her to use her ministry gifts in serving and teaching the last 20 years. I have known Erin and her family for at least 24 years and remember her days leading Young Life in Bristol and in Salem, VA. Erin is the loving mom to four daughters: Natalie, Asher, Serah and Amayzah. I am guessing many of you know Erin’s amazing mom, Brenda Sizer. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! We are grateful to God for bringing us another mighty woman of God to lead our Women’s Ministry. Welcome aboard, Erin!
