For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will. They begged us again and again for the privilege of sharing in the gift for the believers in Jerusalem
2 Cor 8

Hi Church family,

Every Fall we give our people an opportunity to give “over and above offerings” to three ministries with whom we have a long and special relationship. These ministries are: Hope on 1000 Hills, Operation Christmas Child, and Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree Project. Many singles and families have a long tradition of sowing generously into God’s Kingdom work through these special offerings. Honestly, many of you have told me it is one of your favorite Advent and Christmas traditions to support these ministries:

Hope on 1000 Hills:

Operation Christmas Child:

Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree Project:

As a pastor it blesses my heart a LOT to see you be generous.

We will have tables in the foyer/narthex set up in the next few weeks should you want to sponsor a Hope on 1000 Hills gift in honor of a family member, friend or co-worker rather than the proverbial tie, book, sweater or bottle of Old Spice or fill a shoebox for a child in need through Operation Christmas Child or purchase a gift for a child whose parent is incarcerated through Angel Tree.

I am so excited that now approximately 31% of all CHS general income goes directly to missions! When you factor in what we spend on discipleship, a super majority of our general income (tithes) goes to Missions and discipleship. That figure is not normal, but it is wonderful!

As we approach year end, grab some time to evaluate your personal stewardship of what the Lord has given you. What percentage are you returning to the local church (the “storehouse”) and how much are you giving back as “offerings”?

I can testify that it is BLESSED to give and be generous. There is no more joyful person than a generous person.
