The ministry of Church of the Holy Spirit to those who are age 55 and over. This isn’t your parents “old folks ministry,” but rather it is a group of people wanting to have an impact on our church, our community and the world.
The MASTERS Committee meets monthly for discussion. Here we take on issues of importance to mature adults living in the 21st century. We also decide on trips to places of interest in our area of the country and other fun outings, such as bike rides down the Virginia Creeper Trail.
We make and give Jesse Tree Ornaments to parents and grandparents in our church.
The Masters are impacting the local community through the more than 55 teachers we have in area school systems. The MASTERS have taken on every one of our public and private school teachers that attend CHS and pray for them on a regular basis. That means our teachers go into their school rooms every day backed in prayer by our MASTERS participants. We also hold a banquet at the beginning of the school year bringing in a top speaker, coupled with a time of encouragement and prayer. And we have a corporate time of prayer during our Sunday morning worship service at the beginning of the school year for our teachers who have a daily impact on our community.
The MASTERS also have a heart for the world. We not only want to personally take part in the numerous short term mission trips, but we want to be active in the sending of our church members around the world taking part in short term missions. We do this through the annual “Chili Cook-off.” Also, the past two years, we have put on a 0.5k Race here at CHS and use the money raised to help build schools in Rwanda. Through these two events, we are able to supplement our church’s world missions effort.
