What is the Altar Guild all about?
Many times we are asked what is the Altar Guild? The Altar Guild is a group of volunteers whose ministry is to care for the Altar, its furnishings, linens and set up Communion for each Sunday service and special services, such as baptisms, funerals and seasonal. The Altar Guild is also responsible for decorating the Sanctuary for Christmas and Easter seasons.
Altar Guild members can choose one or more ways to serve. The first is by joining the Sunday team, which usually means setting up for communion one Sunday every 7-8 weeks. The second way to volunteer is to join our Linen team which is responsible for cleaning linens and vestments when asked. The third way is the Decorating team which is responsible for decorating the Sanctuary and Narthex for Christmas and Easter.
Altar Guild members are individuals, male or female, couples or families who have the gift of serving God, our Clergy and fellow Church Members. Other than serving on one or more of the aforementioned teams, we usually meet one time per quarter. Serving on the Altar Guild is probably one of the least time-consuming ministries you can participate in, but holds a great reward of gratitude, peace and servitude.
