“If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be.”Deut 15:7-8

Great News!!  Celebrate the Lord’s goodness! With faith in Him as our provider, our Vestry has approved using a significant part of our church reserves (up to $100,000) to help the poor and needy during this time of Covid-19 and particularly to help those who have seen a dramatic decrease in their income and thereby cannot afford rent, food and basic utilities.  While there always are more needs than funds, we have it in our hearts to be a blessing and give sacrificially out of our “storehouse.” We have just wired $20,000 to our friends in need in Rwanda and will be using $80,000 to bless those in our community.

Using our basic relief guidelines that come from Scripture, CHS desires to give a “hand-up” to those who, through no fault of their own, need temporary assistance with the basics of life.

Our first priority will be widows, orphans, the elderly, the physically and mentally challenged and single parents in our church family.

Our second priority will be those who have recently seen a dramatic decrease in their resources and do not have the money for basic needs in our church family.

Our third priority will be widows, orphans, the elderly, physically and mentally challenged and single parents NOT in our church family but friends of a church member.

Our fourth priority will be those, NOT in our church family but friends of a church member, who have recently seen a dramatic decrease in their resources and do not have money for basic needs.

Finally, priority will be given to church planters and pastors in our diocese who are not getting paid.

All requests must come from a church member or through a church member.  Requests will need to be made by submitting a required application. Please note that most gifts will be in the $100-500 range and will be given directly to landlord, AEP, Kroger Cards, etc. Please send requests for an application to our Missions Coordinator: shannon@chsroanoke.com .
