Our VBS theme this year is POWER UP! Raise your game! You’ll see turtle shells, you’ll stomp on mushrooms, and even watch chickens cross the road (to get to the other side, of course)!
You might be wondering, what does it mean to POWER UP? Well, wonder no more! Are any of you familiar with video games? In video games, a POWER UP makes you stronger. For example, eat a mushroom, you get bigger. Catch a bouncing star, you get to be invincible (for a few seconds, anyway)! Find a hidden item, you can earn an extra life. Power Ups make games more fun! They give you a chance to win. They help you raise your game.
Life is kind of like that, too. We might not be able to jump up and hit a block to get a star of invincibility, but there IS a way we can POWER UP. There’s a way we can “raise our game”. And news flash: it’s more powerful than ANY power-up you could find in a game! That’s what this year’s VBS is all about. God has given us ways to live bigger, more powerful lives.
2nd Peter 1:3a says, “God’s power has given us everything we need to lead a Godly life.”
During our week of VBS, we will learn:
- God wants us to know him.
- God sent Jesus to save us.
- We can help others know about God.
As we strive to reach out to others, we hope to use our mission focus to teach our children about world hunger and the importance of obeying the two greatest commandments: Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind & strength and loving our neighbor as ourselves. We will collect offerings each day to help start a feeding program for malnourished children in poor areas of Rwanda, including the Shara Peninsula.
Please be sure to sign up ASAP:
Cick here to volunteer. We need your help!
You can also visit the VBS table on Sunday mornings in the narthex to sign up or purchase a T-shirt. The cost for the VBS themed shirt is $10 and $2 from each purchase will be donated to our mission focus. We pre-ordered the T’s this year, so get one while they last.
We can’t wait to see you!
