“Now
to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the
church and in Christ Jesus …”
Ephesians 3:20-21a

Quigg LawrenceHey Church family,

I have been praying and thinking a great deal about our church and how we can be even more effective for Christ.  One burden the Lord put on my heart is that we (CHS) must be crystal clear as to who we are and where we are going.  Who has God called our Church to be?

I have many ideas and could “self-evaluate,”
but I would like to get your thoughtful input before our staff and
vestry retreats; the call of God is a serious and sacred matter.  The
Lord will speak to the leaders, but I share one of our bishop’s beliefs
that God often speaks to His people through His people.

I know that like any church, our goal is to
meet the Great Commission call to make disciples of Jesus.  Or as our
staff likes to phrase it, “Our mission is to be healthy disciples of Jesus who make healthy disciples of Jesus.”
I know that like all Jesus-loving, bible-teaching churches, we have a
call to do kingdom work for the King – to pray, evangelize, teach,
spiritually equip, serve, give, worship, look out for the widows and
orphans, visit those in prison, feed the hungry, etc.

But what would you say are the distinct giftings, charisms, and anointings the Lord has given to Church of the Holy Spirit?

What do you see God doing in our midst?

When you tell other people about CHS, how do you describe what God is doing in and through this Church family?

Aside from the basics, what is our unique call or how do we walk out our call in a unique way?

Please prayerfully consider these questions and reply to this email address.

I look forward to hearing from His people!
