“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all
kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always
keep on praying for all the saints.”
  Ephesians 6:18
Dear CHS Family,

The ConradsI
have some exciting news regarding our prayer ministry!  We have been
praying for quite some time about how to lead and develop a culture of
prayer at our church with broad participation throughout the body.
Prayer is not just for a gifted few; it is a mainstay of every
disciple’s communion with Christ and essential to our walk with Him
corporately.

We have considered this ministry important
enough to merit the appointment of a special “prayer warden” on
the vestry to help us oversee this vital aspect of our life together at
CHS.  Christian Conrad will be serving in this capacity along with two other lay leaders, Lowell and Marcia Troyer.  Lowell and The Troyers
Marcia are passionate about prayer and have a strong ministry
background.  Christian and I are looking forward to leading a new study
on prayer with them starting June 9th, Live A Praying Life.

This pivotal study is 13 weeks long and goes
back to the biblical basics of prayer, cleaning out myths about prayer
and encouraging believers in a powerful, ongoing connection to God that
invigorates every aspect of life.  The study is written by Jennifer
Kennedy Dean, daughter of James Kennedy, author of six other books, and a
member of America’s Prayer Committee.  We will deal with complex
theological questions like:

– If God is sovereign, why pray?

– Can I change God’s mind?

– If prayer doesn’t give God new ideas or awaken love or mercy, then what does it do?

– What part do faith, obedience, and forgiveness play in prayer?

– How can the promises of God become real to me?

– How can prayer open my life to God’s power and provision?

I am inviting you ALL to be a part!

With anticipation,
