Stale Cookies and Apple Juice

Vacation Bible School was the highlight of my summer as a kid.  It was a time when our humble church building was transformed into various themes, where you’d see the adults act like kids, and when you got to feast on endless amounts of stale cookies and apple juice!

Next week, Monday, June 19th through Friday, June 23rd from 9:00am-12:00pm, Church of the Holy Spirit may or may not contain most of the above but will undoubtedly exceed your expectations.

Come this week to find these 10 things:

  1.  Roller Skates
  2.  Slime
  3. A puppy
  4. Fog & Smoke
  5. A dead fish
  6. 80’s music
  7. Pie in face
  8. Inflatables
  9. Karate kicks
  10. 1 Fidget Spinner

But even better than all these things, our sanctuary will be filled with excited children dancing for joy, singing scripture from their hearts, and learning about Jesus. It will be filled with adults who have a passion to help shape and form the spiritual lives of these children. What a mission!!

VBS is a wonderful way to reach out to your community, neighbors and friends! 1 Thes. 2:8 captures this idea perfectly and is something you’ll have written in your brain by the end of the fall if you regularly attend our services. It says “We’ve loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.” Join us and bring those dear to you. Bring children with you or sign up to volunteer!  We are seeking 10 more volunteers to join us for this mission.

If you aren’t able to volunteer your time during the day for VBS, we have a different opportunity that may suit you. For the 90-100 volunteers each day, we are seeking SNACKS! Stale Cookies and Apple Juice were always my VBS favorite in the 80’s, but any snacks are helpful to keep these volunteers energized and hydrated!  Please send these snacks to the church office anytime this week and next week.
